Walking:

From Glasgow Queen Street, allow 10-15 minutes to walk this route.

  • Leave Queen Street station via the 'George Square' exit
  • Cross over the pedestrian crossing onto West George Street and turn right
  • Turn left at St George's Tron and head down Buchanan Street
  • You will pass the Doctor Who-style police box on your left and Frasers' department store on your right
  • Take the pedestrian crossing opposite the Bank of Scotland and enter St Enoch Square
  • Ahead of you you'll see the Subway and Café Nero, IET Glasgow: Teacher Building is to your right.

From Glasgow Central Station, allow 5-10 minutes to walk this route.

  • Follow the signs for 'Argyle Street' between Patisserie Valerie and Costa
  • Take the escalator and turn left at the bottom
  • Exit the station opposite the 'Arches' and turn left
  • Cross the road opposite KFC and continue walking until you reach Frasers' department store on the corner
  • At Frasers, take the pedestrian crossing opposite the Bank of Scotland and enter St Enoch Square
  • Ahead of you you'll see the Subway and Café Nero, IET Glasgow: Teacher Building is to your right.

From the Thistle Car Park (corner of Howard Street and Jamaica Street): The car park is located directly behind IET Glasgow: Teacher Building and there are 2 access roads into St. Enoch Square from Howard Street.

By rail:

Glasgow’s St Enoch Station on the city’s subway network is approximately 20 yards from the entrance to IET Glasgow: Teacher Building and can be seen upon exit from the station (come out and turn right into St Enoch Place). By bus:

First run the bus network throughout Glasgow and the following lines run at least every 10 minutes from 0800 Monday to Friday (1000 Saturday) to the city and until 1900 from the city on most services. Stops are made on Argyle Street, which adjoins Jamaica Street, Howard Street and Osborne Street to access St Enoch Square and IET Glasgow: Teacher Building:

  • Argyle Street: Routes 1, 2, 6, 7, 61 and 75
  • Jamaica Street: Routes 3, 4, 10, 38 and 57
  • Howard Street: Routes 2, 7, 61 and 75
  • Oswald Street: Routes 3, 4, 9,10,38, and 57

Alternatively, the Glasgow Shuttle service 500 operated by First Glasgow which leaves from stance 1, outside of the domestic arrivals. It is an express service direct to the city centre,  which has drop off points near to both Queen Street and Glasgow Central station. By road:

From the North: Via the A82 and M8, exit junction 19
From the East: Via the M8, exit junction 19
From the South: Via the M74 and M8, exit junction 19
From the West: Via the M8, exit junction 19

Parking:

To combat one of the city’s biggest challenges for a central venue, IET Glasgow: Teacher: Building has secured a special rate with the Jamaica Street 24 hour Car Park (corner of Howard Street and Jamaica Street) for all event bookers and delegates attending the venue.

  • Free car parking for facilitators if you book the Laphroaig Theatre
  • £5.00 all day flat-rate for delegates

By air:

All major UK airports fly to Glasgow Airport.

To reach IET Glasgow: Teacher Building on arrival, you are best to take a taxi from outside the terminal building into the City Centre (approx. 20 minute journey). Many will know the venue by name or you can ask for St Enoch Place/St Enoch Square where the venue is located.  To pre-book a taxi, see the Glasgow Airport Guide’s taxi listings.

Alternatively, there are frequent services to Glasgow city centre operated by Citylink and Fairline as a combined service 905. All services have drop off points at various locations in the city including close to Glasgow Central and Queen Street railway stations.

The nearest train station to Glasgow airport is Paisley’s Gilmour Street station, 2 miles from the terminal and easily reached by taxi. This takes you directly to Glasgow Central station where you can follow walking directions from above.
